The Oakland Patriots picked up where they left off last season, pounding Hendersonville 59-0 to open up 2019.

A stifling defense held the Commandoes scoreless and they had less than 100 yards total offense.

The Patriots, up 7-0, blocked a Hendersonville field goal attempt and in his first varsity game, senior linebacker Dejon Glaster returned it for a score:

They would score three more times in the second quarter to take a 31-nothing lead at the half. One of those was a pick six by De'Arre McDonald:

Two special teams miscues to start the second half by Hendersonville gave Oakland the ball on the 1-yard line and the 15, scoring on both as the clock ran the rest of the game.

The Patriots had 341-yards total offense (223 rushing, 118 passing). Running back B.J. Connard had 114-yards on 5 carries and a touchdown. Quarterback Cody Sparks was 5-of-9 passing for 118-yards and two touchdowns.

Oakland will host Kenwood at Ray Hughes Stadium on their new turf field next Friday night.
