Safety Guidelines:  AACCA and UCA Articles of Understanding

Requirement:  School must be a member of the Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association

Cost: Entry Fee — $150.00 per squad (non-refundable); $10.00 spectator fee; $5.00 Parking

Time: 11:30 a.m. Registration; Approx. 12:30 p.m. Competition (NOTE: This is subject to change depending on the conclusion of the Awards Ceremony for the Varsity Dance competition.)

Categories: Squads entering the TMSAA Cheerleading Sectional Championships may enter only one of the following divisions:

Competition Divisions:

  1. Small Middle – Squads with 16 members and under; 2 minutes and 30 seconds to perform.
  2. Large Middle – Squads with 17-25 members; 2 minutes and 30 seconds to perform.
  3. Non-Tumbling – Squads with 5-25 members or more; 2 minutes and 30 seconds to perform (1 minute 30 second maximum music) in which tumbling is prohibited, except for inversions into load in positions, stunts, and pyramids. Tumbling is defined as any skills with feet over head rotation.

Routine:  (Small and Large) – Each squad will have two minutes and thirty seconds to demonstrate its cheerleading style and expertise. Timing will begin with the first movement, voice, or first note of music, whichever comes first. Each squad’s presentation must include at least one cheer or sideline chant. If a squad uses music in its presentation, the musical portion must not exceed one minute and thirty seconds. Band cheers will be considered part of the musical performance.
