1. Dates / Location / Times – Region winners and runners-up will meet in the Sectional on Saturday, October 21, 2017. The contest shall take place at the regional winner’s field as long as the field can be considered an adequate facility.
 Beginning with the 2018-19 school year, schools hosting contests at the regional and sectional level must secure a field with minimum dimensions of 110 yards by 65 yards. If there is no available field within a 15 mile radius of the host school, the host school may request an exception from the state office.  The host school should contact the visiting team as soon as possible concerning the site and time of the sectional match. Schools may mutually agree to play the sectional earlier than the scheduled date.  Sectional matches are listed below:
Site 1: Winner Region 1 vs. Second Region 2
Site 2: Winner Region 2 vs. Second Region 1
Site 3: Winner Region 3 vs. Second Region 4
Site 4: Winner Region 4 vs. Second Region 3
Site 5: Winner Region 5 vs. Second Region 6
Site 6: Winner Region 6 vs. Second Region 5
Site 7: Winner Region 7 vs. Second Region 8
Site 8: Winner Region 8 vs. Second Region 7

The sectional winners will advance to the central tournament site, October 25-26 and 28 at Richard Siegel Park in Murfreesboro, TN. he state office staff shall make the draw for play at the central tournament site. The draw will be made such that if two teams from the same region qualify for the state, they will be drawn to opposite brackets. The bracket shall be set by the Executive Director upon completion of the sectional games.
  • Required Field Dimensions – Beginning with the 2018-19 school year, schools hosting contests above the regional level must secure a field with minimum dimensions of 110 yards by 65 yards.   • Tickets and Passes:
    1. All tickets are general admission and are $7 each. The host school is to furnish tickets.
    2. TSSAA ID Cards are NOT TO BE ACCEPTED AS PASSES.
    3. Each team will be allowed to admit players, managers, coaches, and other school officials with the team party without a ticket.
    4. The 2017-18 Championship Event Card will provide complimentary admittance for the Sectional Match. Each member school received two event cards. This card admits ONLY ONE PERSON PER CARD. The Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association (TACA) card will also provide complimentary admittance for the Sectional Match. The TACA card admits ONLY ONE PERSON PER CARD.
  • Game Officials -Game officials will be provided by the local association that services the host school. The Game Director shall contact the Assigning Officer or Supervisor of the association and confirm the date, time, and site of the Sectional game. Four officials will be assigned. Game fees for officials working sectional contests can be found here (Link to postseason officials fees).  Mileage shall also be paid at a rate of 15 cents per mile for each official traveling from outside the county to the contest.
  • Game Administrator’s Meeting – The TSSAA Board of Control has designated that prior to any varsity contest in the sport of girls soccer, the game administrator is required to conduct a pre-game meeting with game officials, both head coaches, and security. The game administrator shall be present and visible for the duration of the game.
  • Inclement Weather Guidelines – Games suspended due to conditions which make it impossible to continue play shall be continued from the point of suspension of play if less than one half of the game has been played. The same procedure shall be used if more than one half of the game has been played and the score is tied when play is suspended.
  • Tie Breaking Procedures / Mercy Rule – All contests shall use the NFHS tie-breaking procedure. The Mercy Rule shall be in effect for postseason contests.
  • Tournament Roster – A tournament squad shall be limited to 22 players. A coach can choose to dress more than 22 players; however only 22 can be listed on the game roster.
  • Financial Arrangements / Reporting – The principal or designee of the host school shall be the Game Director.  The Game Director shall make a financial report on the TSSAA Portal based on the financial arrangements listed below:
    1. Game officials and administrative cost shall be paid first before any team expense is allowed. If receipts are not sufficient to pay the officials and game expenses, the host team and TSSAA shall share these costs and no team expenses shall be allowed.
    2. The home team shall receive no expenses. Visiting teams within 50 miles of the site match shall receive no expense allowance. Teams over 50 miles away shall receive 36 cents per mile, round trip, and $2 per individual for 23 people for one meal. If receipts are sufficient to pay officials and game expenses, as much as can be paid should be paid toward team expenses. If any receipts remain after all expenses have been paid, they should be divided with the two participating schools and TSSAA, each receiving 33 1/3%. All checks for district, regional, and sectional tournaments and playoffs must be distributed within 10 business days of the completion of the tournament or game. Failure to do so will result in a $100.00 late fee to be paid to TSSAA and is to be used in the A.F. Bridges sportsmanship program to go to schools or students receiving awards. Failure to distribute funds within 20 business days will result in an additional $200 late fee (total $300.00). Failure to distribute funds within 40 business days will result in an additional $200.00 late fee (total $500.00). The school may not host any tournament or playoff until the principal or athletic director appears before the Board of Control to explain their reasons for not distributing the checks within the required time frame. The Board would then determine whether the school can host tournaments or playoffs in the future.
  • Video / Videostream / Radio – All taping or filming by a school must be approved by the local Game Director, and the Game Director shall assign space, when available, for the school to tape or film.  Rules governing videostreaming or other broadcast of a postseason contest are found in the TSSAA Media Regulations.
